My painting action is not only restricted in front of the canvas. First, I have to step outside the studio. (I went as far as I can, at last I visited the Czech Republic and Vietnam.) I confirmed the differences between information and personal experience, and collected stories and photos while visiting. After returning to the studio, I began to study a Madeleine model, a place where a bomber crashed, the shape of the Bánh Chưng, the wrapping paper and many other different objects. My paintings are according to the images acquired from the visits and reconstructed via my cognition and self visual experience. Therefore, time and space can be preserved and condensed on the canvas. The shapes on the painting are blurred or fused to each other, indicating ongoing deforming postures. I hope the audience could connect their own memory and experience through reading and imagining the vague objects from my paintings.
繪畫行動不僅在畫布前面。首先我得先走出門(盡我所能的到了最遠:越南與捷克),確認我所接受到的資訊與親身經驗的差距,並且收集故事和照片,回到工作室之後,開始反覆閱讀一顆瑪德蓮的模型、轟炸機墜落的場所、粽子的形狀與包裝紙……等,根據我的所知與視覺經驗進行了剪貼或是影像的變造,比較、排列後,再重新繪製。最後時間、空間皆被收束在畫面上,形狀模糊或相互熔接,帶有即將形變的姿態,讓觀者去閱讀及臆想畫面中依稀可辨認的物件與人,意義連結也因此得以被擴展。
